Welcome to Atlanta Clan na nGael's weekly e-letter! Its purpose is to inform our members and friends of Club events and other Irish happenings in Atlanta. Please send items for inclusion in next week's email toChair@atlantagaa.org

CHARLOTTE TOURNAMENT - Upcoming event!
Clan na nGael are traveling to Charlotte, NC next weekend to play in a 3-city tournament at Belmont Abbey College. DC Gaels will travel down from Washington. Scheduled games: Men v. Charlotte (12pm); Ladies v. DC (1:30pm); DC Men v. Charlotte (3pm); Camogie/Hurling Exhibition (4:30pm) and ATL Men v. DC (6:00pm). I’ve recently been told that there will be local media covering this event! Trophy presentations will take place at Connolly’s on 5th Pub at 9pm. Let your trainers know of your travel intentions. This is a great opportunity to get a few games behind us!! Any spectators are immensely welcome to join us in Charlotte!

CNG brings Live GAA broadcasts from Ireland, shown in Fado, this coming Saturday and Sunday! There is a $20 cover charge per day.

GAA ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS FROM 6/7/2003 & 6/8/2003 (14 Games)

* Poor Clare are whitewashed by Cork 08/06/2003 A thundering start from Cork eventually turned into a whitewash of a disappointing Clare team as The Rebels earned a place in this year's Munster Hurling Championship final with an emphatic 1-18 to 0-10 victory at Semple Stadium.

* Wexford stage amazing comeback against Offaly 08/06/2003 Wexford staged a great comeback to beat Offaly by 0-16 to 1-12 when the Faithful County seemed to be running away with the game.

* Down overturn Monaghan lead to win in Casement Park 08/06/2003 Monaghan opened well in their match against Down in Casement Park, but their wastefulness in front of goal proved their downfall as they lost their Ulster Football quarter-final 1-12 to 0-13.

* All-Ireland Champions easily beat Waterford 08/06/2003 Waterford made a good start to their match against the All-Ireland champions, but Armagh soon took control and ran out winners by 2-21 to 0-07, while there were also qualifier wins for Cavan and Carlow against Louth and Wicklow respectively.

* Mayo score comprehensive win over Sligo 08/06/2003 Underdogs Mayo booked their place in the Connacht SFC final with a comprehensive 0-14 to 0-11 victory over Sligo at Markievicz Park on Sunday.

* Waterford beat Limerick and Kilkenny ease past Dublin 07/06/2003 Waterford beat Limerick in a tight replay of the Munster hurling semi-final, while Kilkenny had an easier win against Dublin.

* Meath win replay 07/06/2003 Meath emerged victorious over neighbours Westmeath today in the replay of their Leinster SFC quarter final in Portlaoise today.

* Roscommon overcome Cork while London fall to Offaly 07/06/2003 Roscommon beat Cork today in Dr Hyde Park while Offaly had an easy win over London in Tullamore in the first round of the Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Football Championship qualifiers.

* Derry goal spree defeats valiant Wexford 07/06/2003 Goals from Anthony Tohill, Dermot Duggan and Enda Muldoon were enough to see Mickey Moran's Derry beat Wexford 3-10 to 0-09 at Wexford Park this afternoon.

TRAINING & NEW LEAGUE!!!
The Hurling and Men & Ladies’ Football teams are always looking for more players. New and beginner players are most welcome. Preparations for the Atlanta League are underway!! There will be games scheduled every two weeks starting the month of July. Find out more from your team coaches!! We are also looking for volunteers for anyone interested in helping set up the fields on the game days, act as officials (linesmen, umpires, referees, etc.) Contact info@atlantagaa.org if you are interested in learning more.

THE "REEL" OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT, JUNE 14, 2003 – This weekend!!!
Due to popular demand, the venue for this years golf tournament has changed to the award winning Heritage Golf Course (770 499 4653) located 10 min from Buckhead. The tournament is being sponsored by Georgia State Feis which is a non profit organization formed to bring one of the nations most progressive Irish Dance Competitions to Atlanta. Individuals or complete teams are welcome. Registration will open at 11.00 AM and competition will begin with a shotgun start at 12.30 PM sharp. Registration Fees will be $ 380 /foursome, $ 95 / individual, and $ 115 / individual on the day of the event. Join us in The Harp Irish Pub immediately following the tournament as awards are presented. IRISH MUSIC TRADITIONS – 2 upcoming events

Irish Music Traditions has two upcoming events that may be of interest. First, we are sponsoring an Irish set dance workshop on Friday, June 13th*, taught by Donncha O'Muineachain, one of the world's foremost set dance instructors. The workshop will be held at Garden Hills Recreation Center starting at 7:30 pm.

Second, we are holding our second annual Summer Music Workshop at Kennesaw State University on the weekend immediately following the dance workshop (June 14th and 15th). We will be teaching Irish music on various instruments including flute, fiddle, guitar, bodhran, and tin whistle, as well as Irish song and beginning step dancing.

Hurlers are Victorious in NACB Junior B Hurling Championship 2003
Congratulations to the club's hurlers who were victorious at the "Junior B level Championships" in Boston.
Atlanta won the tournament with a great performance against Milwaukee hurling club.

 
 
  
  Ladies Camogie headline

Due to the low turn out, we will not be having camogie-specific training sessions. Any women, new and beginner, are welcome to join the hurlers training session until numbers improve. Thanks!
