Welcome to Clan na nGael's weekly e-letter!  Its purpose is to inform our members and friends of Club events and other Irish happenings in Atlanta.  Please send items for inclusion in next week's email to Chair@atlantagaa.org
 
GOLF TOURNAMENT!
Our tournament, held last Saturday, was a resounding success - the biggest ever!  In all, there were 133 golfers on the course, starting from noon, and ending at 8pm!  Woah!  A big thank you to OUR GOLFERS, OUR SPONSORS, VOLUNTEERS but especially, Tom McSorley, for pulling it all together!  Tom your efforts are so much appreciated!
Big winners on the day were:  team "Quirky Kevin" (low handicap) and "The Wall" (high handicap).  Second place teams:  "The Hole in One Gang" (low handicap) - True to their name, team member, Jim Wolff had a hole in one! - and "The Scotsmen" (high handicap).

GOOD LUCK HURLERS!
Seventeen of our hurlers are traveling to Chicago this weekend to participate in a hurling/camogie tournament involving teams from St. Louis, Milwaukee, and Notre Dame.  Good luck, best wishes and safe travels!  We'll be looking for an update upon your return!
 
GAA GAMES THIS WEEK
CNG and Fado bring live games broadcast from Ireland Sunday mornings.  Upcoming games:
Sun-27-Apr - National League Hurling Semi-Final: Clare v Tipperary (10:30 am)
Sun-4-May - National League: Football Final: Tyrone v Laois (TBA)
Sun-11-May - GAA Championship Games Begin!  (Stay tuned)
 
There is an admission fee to be paid at the Door $20 per day. Package Deals are available on an individual basis.
 
LADIES AND MEN'S FOOTBALL TRAINING
Training has begun for both teams.  Ladies' training on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm; men's on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 8pm.  Both train at Morgan Falls Park.  Keep up to date by visiting our website!!  www.atlantagaa.org
 
IRISH NIGHT SOCCER MATCH
The Atlanta Silverbacks are having a game June 21st against the Charleston Battery at Dekalb Memorial Stadium.  The Battery have a player named Terry Phelan who has played for Ireland in the 1994 World Cup.  The Silverbacks are hoping to bring many Irish out to this game to meet Terry and have photos taken with him.  For ticket opportunities:  groups of 15 or more, call Kris Johnson at 770-248-0492 ext. 227, or order individual tickets at 404-249-6400.

Hurlers are Victorious in NACB Junior B Hurling Championship 2003
Congratulations to the club's hurlers who were victorious at the "Junior B level Championships" in Boston.
Atlanta won the tournament with a great performance against Milwaukee hurling club.

 
 
  
  Ladies Camogie headline

Due to the low turn out, we will not be having camogie-specific training sessions. Any women, new and beginner, are welcome to join the hurlers training session until numbers improve. Thanks!
