If you would like to donate please click here. The 1st photo was taken during Thanksgiving 2001 while Ciara was receiving treatment, the 2nd photo was taken a couple of days after my head was shaved (Ciara is sporting a St. Baldrick's temporary tattoo in this photo)thank you again for your supportDonal Fleming and Karen Leonard Parents to Ciara FlemingFor information please go to:http://www.caringbridge.org/ga/ciarafleming/http://www.stbaldricks.org/thecause_research.asphttp://www.nccf.org/http://www.childrensoncologygroup.org/Donal Fleming wrote: We ask that you forward this email to any friends and/or family who you think may be interested in supporting childhood cancer research. This is a very worthwhile cause, very close to our hearts. Most of you will know that in September 2001 our daughter Ciara was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma . She was just 2 years old. She completed multiple surgeries and 48 weeks of chemotheraphy which finished in July of last year. We are delighted to report that to date she has had clear scans and biopsies and is in great form just like any other 3 year old. St. Baldrick's holds fundraising events around St. Patrick's weekend to support the National Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF). Nearly a million dollars was raised last year by certain brave individuals known as 'Shavees' who for sponsorship from family, friends etc. had their heads shaved in support of the NCCF and in solidarity with all those cancer patients who lose their hair as part of treatment. Pediatric cancer centers around the world also benefit from NCCF research. For instance Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin, Dublin, Ireland has an alliance with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.Over 110 pubs will host head shaving events this year throughout the US, Canada, Bermuda and England. There will be three venues in Atlanta this year: Mc Duffs & Fado in Buckhead and The Harp in Roswell. On the 15th of March we will kick off in McDuffs at 10 am and we will move to Fado for 5pm.We will resume head shaving on Sunday 16th at 3:30pm in The Harp where I (Donal) will have my head shaved. If you would like to sponsor me can you please click here. We also need more Shavees and Volunteers to help out with these events please call us at 770-393-4988.There will be other St. Baldricks events throughout the country for those of you who do not live in Atlanta. We would like to ask that if you can to please support these events most of which will take place around the St. Patrick's Weekend.Hope to some of you over the weekend. Watch out for Ciara on the 'St. Baldricks' float in the St. Patrick's parade. We will be celebrating Ciara's first St. Patrick's Day 'off treatment'.
